Soccer is a big deal everywhere outside the U.S. of A. I can’t think of any country in Europe, Africa, Asia Etc that does not appreciate the sport.
We Huskies were able to take part in the experience on Sunday night by going to the Ahly Vs Santos (Angola) game. It was an incredible event, with crowds wild w as the Ahly swept Santos of the field. In the end, Ahly won 3-0.
The security at the game was intense. A barrier was formed around our group for security reasons. We even entered the stadium through the VIP entrance. The scene was almost United Nations like. Despite it all, our Huskies went wild throughout the game.
Best of all, we were on Egyptian national television! The camera loved our enthusiasm as we waved our Ahly flags, and flashed our gear -Jerseys, scarves, and all. Man, it was just awesome.
It was great for our group to experience the soccer game in the Olympic Stadium in Heliopolis, Cairo. It is definitely a memorable experience.

I’ve read several versions of this “football” match (my son’s included) and they were all great, but you definitely added incredible dimension. Yours was so vivid and interesting, what with coming through the VIP entrance and the Egyptian TV along with the passionate Husky cheering. Thoroughly enjoyed the blog.
